Watch Around Water
Watch around Water is a popular program in Australia developed as a result of a series of tragic drowning deaths involving children at public swimming schools.
Windy Hill endorses the Watch Around Water campaign with the aim to raise awareness of the safety of children around water, and also to educate adults on how to behave in these situations. Although swimming pools are looked after by the swimming pool lifeguards, parents need to monitor and supervise their own child to ensure their safety.
Watch around Water works by increasing the level of supervision required depending on the Childs age.
For a child under the age of five, adults must be supervising their child from within arms reach while swimming or around water at a centre.
For a child under the age of ten, the child must must be supervised at all times and within line of sight at the centre.
Any unsupervised children will be removed from the water by staff until the supervisor of the child is found.
Keeping the above in mind will ensure that we are able to provide a safe place for children to participate in water activities.
