We hosted a Family Swim Night at Windy Hill last month which is one of many activities Different Journeys co-ordinates to empower Autistic children, teens, adults and their families to live a life of inclusion.
The intention is to gradually expose autistic people to all aspects of the aquatic environment, resulting in familiarisation and empowerment and the potential to participate in regular learn-to-swim classes or simply enjoy the facilities.
We had just under 40 people attend the 2-hour session and received amazing feedback from the day!
such as “It was a safe and supportive environment and she [their mum] loved the photos he [their dad] was sending of their son in the pool.” and “Lots of smiles and laughs and getting everyone engaged” and “this is awesome, when is the next one”.
We will be hosting this event again on Saturday, March 26th! Click the buttons below for more details.
