Before You Arrive
Wear comfortable workout clothes you can move in. Bring a water bottle and a small towel. Everything else, bars, plates, and steps, are provided in the studio. Aim to arrive a few minutes early so you can set up without feeling rushed.
Chris our National Health Club Manager states “Body Pump is an excellent class for all types of members. It caters for the experienced Pumper who can lift heavier weights through to the beginner that starts out at their own pace with lighter, appropriate loads.” He also recommends that if you are attending your first class then introduce yourself to the instructor as they can help you with equipment setup and starting weights. They can even introduce you to a couple of other participants so you can feel even more at ease.
Warm Up Expectations
Class starts with a full body warm up using light weights to get your muscles ready and your heart rate up. It’s designed to ease you in, not exhaust you.
How Weights Are Chosen
You’re always in control of your weight selection. Instructors will guide you, but starting light is encouraged, especially if it’s your first class. You can adjust at any time.
The Music, Energy & Vibe
Expect motivating music, a supportive group atmosphere, and an instructor who cues every move. It’s high energy but welcoming, whether it’s your first class or your fiftieth. Remember this class is done to the timing of music but if you need a small break then you are welcome to pause and then continue when you are ready.
Post Class Soreness (and Why It’s Normal!)
Feeling sore a day or two later is completely normal, your muscles are adapting and getting stronger. It’s a sign you worked hard, not that you did something wrong.
