August 2023 WHF - AFLW Closures

It was announced earlier this year that the Windy Hill Oval would be the home ground for the AFLW Essendon Bombers. Bringing an elite level of football back to Windy Hill for the first time in over 32 years!

Due to the upcoming home games for the AFLW Essendon team, we have a few access changes and disruptions to our facilities. The Windy Hill precinct is in the early stages of future development which has left some of the facilities unusable.

To allow the AFLW away teams to access functioning changerooms from the Fitness Centre, there will be restricted access to the health club facilities.

As a result of this restricted access there will be no access to the FX30 fitness room, and there will be limited access to machines on the turfed area. Whilst there will be no access to gym changerooms, the aquatic change rooms will remain open.

During this time our team will be directing all health club visitors to access the gym via the door in the aquatics facility. To assist you during this time there will also be plenty of signage displayed at the facility during the affected days and times.

The following are the dates and times that members can expect some disruptions:

  • Saturday 12th August at 7:30am – 2pm
  • Sunday 10th September at 12pm – 6pm
  • Sunday 24th September at 11am – 4pm
  • Sunday 22nd October at 2pm – 7pm
  • Saturday 28th October at 12pm – 6pm

Parking will also be limited during these matches as large crowds will be anticipated to attend the games.

Prior to the season starting up in September, you can catch a glimpse of the Essendon AFLW play during a practice match here on our front door step.
