What To Expect From Your First Swimming Lesson at Windy

November eNews Headers (54)

Upon entry to the facility please see reception to collect your BlueFit Swimming student card. You’ll need to bring this card each week to scan in for your lesson. The card will also give students access to the facility outside of lessons. Swim packs will also be given to students at this time.

After scanning into your lesson you will receive a coloured token. The token colour indicates which swim area your child will have their lesson. Students will place the corresponding token into the box in front of their allocated swim lane. This system not only helps you understand where your child’s lesson will be held but also lets your teacher know you’ve scanned in at reception.

Once in the pool hall, our Pool Deck Coordinators (PDCs) will be available to answer any questions or queries you may have. These staff members can be easily identifiable in white BlueFit Swimming polos. Our PDCs are responsible for ensuring lessons run smoothly and work with the teachers to ensure students are progressing well.

During the first week, our focus will be on ensuring students are comfortable with their teacher and their lesson. Many students have not swum in some time so it will take a couple of weeks for them to settle into their lesson. This is normal and students will soon get used to the routine.

Our PDCs assess students every 4-6 weeks. You’ll receive an email notifying you of any skills your child achieves during the assessment. Every child progresses differently and some skills are harder to master than others. Our aim is to ensure your child learns to swim in a warm and friendly environment so they develop a love of the water.

We are looking forward to getting back into the pool this week, see you soon!
